Check out the full article above by J.T. Pedelty from mywebtimes.com on Longshots alum and University of Illinois player Ryan Nagle who was scouted and then drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2015. Excerpts from article: Anthony Wycklendt is an area supervisor in the Pittsburgh Pirates scouting department, covering an area which includes Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan and Minnesota. THE TIMES: When and how did Ryan first land on your radar as a scout? During his time at Illinois? Before that? And was there anything specific that moved him up to the point where you suggested the team draft him/gave him the marks which led to him being drafted? WYCKLENDT: The first time I saw Ryan in action was during the summer after his junior year/prior to his senior year of high school when he was playing (high-level summer travel ball) for the Longshots. Even as a 16-year-old, his bat showed signs of promise.
