IHSA Basketball

Congratulations to BILLY DILLON (DG South), ZACH HIRSCH (ST. Charles North) and REID ROONEY (Fenwick) who helped lead their teams to the IHSA Regional Championship title game. All three played key leadership roles on their respective teams.

And more props to REID as he was a winner in the Regional 3pt point shoot out.

He moves on to the Sectional Championship at Proviso East Tuesday, prior to the start of the Oak Park vs. Whitney Young game.

Illinois HS Hockey

Congratulations and good luck to ROBBIE BAK, as the Fenwick Hockey team plays for the Chicago Catholic Champiopnship (the Kennedy Cup) after beating Brother Rice in the Semi's. Fenwick has won the Kennedy Cup five years in a row!

ROBBIE and his teammates have also moved to the quarterfinals of the Illinois State Championships.

Good luck ROBBIE! Go FRIARS!

CONGRATULATIONS!

MIKE SPIDALE, Major League Baseball's Pitch & Hit Club of Chicago 2006 Chicago Area Minor League Player of the Year, is currently in the Philadelphia Phillies spring camp.

Mike was a 12th round pick of the White Sox in 2000 and made Class A and AA All Star teams.

He hit .345 with the Phillies organization in 2007.

Those that know Mike, or have seen him play, know what Longshots players are all about.

ALUMNI BEAT 2008'S

The 2nd annual Longshots Alumni game between the 1998 16U AAU National Champs and our 2008 team proved to be an interesting turn of events, with the Alumni winning 7-3. The Alumni seemed to be more agressive this year as they took a stunning late inning defeat in 2006, 4-3.

The highlight of this year's game was ORLANDO DIAZ's (IWCC, Jacksonville U, San Diego Padres) first inning 425' line drive 3-run homer (WITH A WOOD BAT!).

Independent League star, KYLE KMIECIK, rejoined his teammates to bolster the roster and MLB free agent MIKE SPIDALE stopped by as well.

As the Alumni regained their confidence, they reminded our 2008's that soon they would be Alumni and that these games were serving as tryouts to make THEIR team.

As in last year's game, TRADITION was the real winner here.
