2012 will be Bobby Rooney’s 18th season in the Longshots Baseball program. Rooney was an original member of the first Longshots team that won the AAU National Invitational Championship in 1998, along with Illinois State championships from 1995-2000.
After graduating high school in 2000, Rooney went on to play at Illinois State University as a two-way player. He now coaches and instructs in the Longshots Senior Division.
He was an All State LHP & 1B at Fenwick HS.
As a former left-handed pitcher and first baseman, Rooney spends much of his time instructing former positions, along with being the Senior Division baserunning instructor.
In addition to serving as Longshots Baseball’s Alumni Relations Director, Rooney helps run the Longshots’ offseason training program and coaches development clinics.
He has developed a program through which our collegiate players come back and work with our collegiate prospects. Our alumni now assist our players with the colleges where they have played.
