Winter Development
Beginning in January and running until high school ball begins, our winter workouts concentrate on getting our players ready to compete for their high school teams. There is a strong emphasis on hitting and positional play, as well as getting players arms ready for the rigors of early spring baseball.
Younger players practice along with older players and at their specific positions. By playing with older players, they accelerate their development and get better in a short period of time.
By safely building up arm strength, players can report to their high schools ready to go. After a winter of drills, players also end up with much improved conditioning, footwork, and better overall skills.
Pitchers learn much more than just proper mechanics. They also learn the mental aspects of pitching, how to get hitters out, and how to play the position defensively.
Catchers learn not only how to block pitches in the dirt and throw out runners, but also how to receive the ball and help make your pitcher better.
Infielders learn the vast array of footwork and throws to play the various positions around the diamond. Middle infielders and third basemen learn all the double play turns, first basemen gain huge improvements in catching short hop throws in the dirt, and all learn the various footwork required by their positions.
Outfielders learn proper mechanics of outfield throws and they develop speed to the ball, improving their footwork and approach on the field.
Hitters are drilled and tutored by knowledgeable, professional hitting instructors. Hitters are not only taught proper swing and bunt mechanics, but also the mental side of hitting. Hitting approach is just as important as the swing itself, and it is constantly taught.
