Longshots coach Rob Rooney was recently named the 2010 AABC (Connie Mack Division) North Central coach of the year for leading the 2010 Longshots to their second Connie Mack World Series birth in as many attempts.  The Longshots went 6-0 in the North Central Regional in Battle Creek, Michigan, defeating Illinois Sparks Black, Top Tier, Illinois Sparks Red, and the three top teams from Michigan.  The results ran the Longshots (and Coach Rooney’s) all-time record to 12-1 in Connie Mack Regional play.

The award capped off Rooney’s 17^th year managing in the Longshots program and sits alongside other achievements including 8 state championships, 6 AAU National top 10 finishes, and a 1998 AAU National Championship.
