The 2011 Major League Baseball Draft was held June 6 – June 8. 5 Longshots were selected in this year's draft, matching the program's all-time high for players drafted in one season! Players were selected as follows:
Ryan Crowley was selected in the 19th round by the Angels. Crowley, a member of the Longshots Class of 2009 team, was also drafted in the 2009 draft in the 36th round by the White Sox.
Nick Burdi (Class of 2011, Downers Grove South) was selected in the 24th round by the Minnesota Twins.
Joe Perricone (Class of 2011, Hersey) was selected in the 40th round by the Tampa Bay Rays.
Alex Hermeling (Class of 2011, Glenbrook North) was selected in the 43rd round by the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Wes Benjamin (Class of 2011, St. Charles East) was selected in the 48th round by the New York Yankees
The Longshots continue to have an annual impact on the draft, as 19 former Longshots have now been drafted from five graduating classes!
